Chesapeake is the only city in Hampton Roads without an inpatient mental health unit in its borders while the need for such services is growing.

The assisted living facility where a resident temporarily lived when she disappeared gave up its license late last year.

Suffolk’s City Council voted Wednesday night to move forward with a major drainage improvement project in the city’s Pughsville neighborhood. Even though the community badly needs flooding relief, several residents still spoke out against it.
