Brittany Howard has released two albums with her first band Alabama Shakes and now she has released her second solo album, “What Now.”   Reverberating with dance floor bangers, retro soul, and jazz influences, it is nothing like what she did with her other band and as the title suggests you never know what’s going to happen next. 

Powerfully emotive, the album deals with her struggles to understand personal relationships and larger, worldwide issues. While the music is forward moving she still finds way to recognize some of her musical heroes like Prince and Parliament Funkadelic.

The production is meticulous, allowing Howard's voice to shine in its full, intense glory, supported by rich instrumental textures that elevate the storytelling.
