Expected Russian aggression against Ukraine has dominated the news, but the situation may be difficult to understand. Colonel Hennadiy Kovalenko is serving as a staff officer at the Supreme Allied Command Transformation (SACT) HQ in Norfolk, Virginia. He is a graduate of Kharkiv Air Force Military Institute, the National Defence Academy of Ukraine, and received his Masters of Art in International Security and Strategy at King's College London. He is currently enrolled in the Professional Doctorate Programme at Cardiff Metropolitan University. 

Kovalenko has received numerous honors, including the Army Commendation Medal of the United States and the National Defence Medal of France.
