This week, Pickin' on WHRV features the music of mandolin master Roland White. He was a child prodigy playing with his brothers and later founding The Kentucky Colonels. During the peak years of the great folk boom in the early 60s, Roland became a Bluegrass Boy and played with Bill Monroe. He further played with Bluegrass Royalty when he joined Lester Flatt’s Nashville Grass Band. He had a short performing reunion with his brother in 1973 that ended when Clarence was tragically killed in a car accident. He has since played with Country Gazette, The Nashville Bluegrass Band, and his own Roland White Band. Hear for yourself how Roland White is a master musician on Pickin, Sunday night at 7:00 here on WHRV. You can also listen online.
