Have you ever wondered what your pet was thinking-- what they do at home alone and why they do it? Using innovative technology such as spy cameras, x-rays, ultra-slow motion and thermal imagery, Nature presents Pets: Wild At Heart.

From PBS and Nature comes Pets: Wild At Heart, a two-part mini-series airing on Wednesday, June 20 and 27 at 8 p.m. Narrated by David Tennant, the documentary’s first part, Playful Creatures dissects the nature behind why puppies play, why hamster run, and why parakeets talk. Enjoyable for parents and children alike, the filmmakers follow various pets and delve into the instinctual reasoning behind their actions as well as those habits they still hold in common with their less evolved counterparts. For instance, playful puppies and cat and mouse games are more than meets the eye.

Part 2, Secretive Creatures, explores, among other things, how scent plays a major role in the lives of our pets. From hamsters who find their way home to dogs looking for love, scent is one of your pet’s greatest strengths.

While Disco, the talking parakeet, may bring you a smile, the mother cat who adopted an orphaned puppy will remind you of the good nature within all creatures. Whether your an animal enthusiast, a parent or a pet owner, Pet: Wild At Heart is a film that answers the questions we’ve always been asking.
