Howard Beale is a deteriorating evening news anchor for the fictional television network, Union Broadcasting Station. Set in the 1970s, the struggling station has begun to slip in its ratings due to Howard's recent poor performance. The network decides to fire him, and Howard consequently announces his plan to commit suicide on a live broadcast following the news of his termination. In a surprising turn of events, however, Howard becomes a major TV icon after his sensational display. Written by Paddy Chayefsky and directed by Sidney Lumet, Network is a satirical film featuring Peter Finch, Fay Dunaway, Robert Duvall and William Holden. WHRO's Cinema 15 presents Network on Saturday, April 28 at 8 p.m.
