Public media has always been a champion of the arts, and WHRO is thrilled to continue highlighting our own thriving arts scene in Hampton Roads through our multimedia endeavor Curate. The online video and broadcast series covers art in our community in a new way. We showcase the artists and projects that use media and the arts to better the community through beautification and arts appreciation.

This season we will share the personal stories of several artists including Spencer Tinkham, a 25-year-old, self-taught wood sculptor who creates world-renowned decorative bird carvings. We will also highlight Clayton Singleton, a dynamic artist who focuses his work on education, dreams, courage, perseverance and beauty through mixed media expression. And we’ll take you behind the scenes of the Burning Man exhibit at the Hermitage Museum and witness the artistic impact on Hampton Roads.

Curate returns to our air on October 27, 2017, at 8:30 p.m. with a brand new 13-part season! Hosted by Heather Mazzoni and Jason Kypros, and produced by Danny Epperson, each episode will open with the local artist feature and showcase artists from across the United States. The local artist segments will be shared on our digital platforms and at whro.org/Curate, prior to each broadcast. Tune in Friday nights starting October 27 on WHRO TV 15, and help us curate the 757 by visiting whro.org/Curate.
