Saturday, July 7 at 8 p.m.

Year: 1955

Length: 117 minutes

John Steinbeck long considered East of Eden his magnum opus, saying, "I think everything else I have written has been, in a sense, practice for this." In 1955, Elia Kazan masterfully translated Steinbeck's brilliance to the screen, and in the process, introduced the world to James Dean with his film of the same name. Dean plays Cal Trask, the son of a wealthy and religious farmer with a mysterious past. Cal competes with his brother, Aron (played by Richard Davalos) for his fathers' affections, but their conflict may tear their family apart. WHRO's Cinema15 presents East of Eden on Saturday, July 7 at 8 p.m.
