Saturday, February 16, 2019, 2:00-5:00 p.m.

For the past 12 years, the Virginian-Pilot and WHRO have co-hosted The Virginian-Pilot Spelling Bee, a regional spelling bee made of middle school students from Hampton Roads, Northeast North Carolina, and the Eastern Shore area.  This year, more than seventy students are expected to compete in The Virginian-Pilot Spelling Bee airing live from the WHRO studio at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16.  The champion will represent our area in the 2019 Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. in late May.
