Last weekend, the Virginia Symphony Orchestra performed a Mozart Celebration at venues in Hampton Roads. The Sinfonia Concertante in E-flat Major was the highlight of the program. This work featured oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and horn soloists from the symphony; the group dug into the complexities of Mozart’s music, bringing love and intensity to their spotlights. Guest Conductor Scott Yoo acted out the emotions of the music as he led the orchestra in Mozart’s 39th Symphony, which closed the program; you could almost experience the piece just by watching his movements.
