On this week’s Pickin on WHRV, we feature the new release from the Chicago based Special Consensus band. The album pays homage to the long-running nationally syndicated WLS radio program Barn Dance which was a precursor to the Grand Ole Opry. Chicago Barn Dance comes on the heels of their 2018 Grammy nominated Rivers and Roads CD. Special Consensus was also nominated for a Grammy in 2013 for Scratch Gravel Road and had a huge hit with their 2014 homage entitled Country Boy: A Bluegrass Tribute to John Denver. Special Consensus has been performing for 45 years and is considered as one of the prized musical treasures of the Chicago music scene.
