Join us on WHRV FM Wednesday at 10 p.m. for a tribute show honoring jazz icon, Ellis Marsalis. Ellis died last week at the age of 85 due to complications from COVID-19. He was a beloved jazz pianist, educator and patriarch of the Marsalis family.

The jazz community continues to mourn the loss of Ellis. His former students include Harry Connick Jr., Terence Blanchard, Donald Harrison and Ellis’ sons, Wynton, Branford, Delfeayo, and Jason Marsalis.

"Some of Ellis Marsalis' final performances were with me in my trio as my special guest," recalled Jae Sinnett, host of Sinnett in Session. "Mr. Marsalis became a mentor to me in interesting ways. I will cherish those moments for the rest of my life."
