Over twenty five years after he launched his Delta Blues meets Philadephia Hip Hop persona, G. Love has preached a good natured, party vibe and his latest album, “The Juice”, with a number of guest artists including his producer Keb Mo, confidently celebrates life in 2020.
Keb Mo is a steadying presence throughout the album keeping Love’s goofiness in check just enough to get in some great blues riffs. Special guests like Robert Randolph and Marcus King introduce different sonic layers. King and Mo contribute to the title cut which has already become a call and response live anthem with it’s positive message of live and unity.
Love calls one the other songs a party jam for our troubled times, he says “with so much bad news every day, we have to work hard not to get swept away into a downward spiral of negative anxiety.
Love and Keb Mo worked with each other early in their carreers so “The Juice” brings them full circle creating what they call a “new school blues” record and “a beautiful exploration of the ways we can brighten the worlds of those we care about."
