Educationally Speaking returns this week with another discussion in the American Graduate Initiative. In an on-going effort to direct attention to the critical need for skilled trade workers, the Hampton Roads Workforce Council has partnered with employers, community colleges, and WHRO as a part of the Women in Skilled Careers Grant. The program has a multi-faceted approach in seeking to lift participants out of poverty while also filling the local need for skilled trade workers: Chrstina Brooks, with the Hampton Roads Workforce Council explains how the grant targets women for work in the skilled trades. Also, Barbara Washer with the Virginia Ship Repair Association discusses how apprenticeships offer an entry into the field of skilled trades.

Educationally Speaking airs weekdays at 11: 04 a.m. on 89.5 WHRV FM. Listen to past episodes
