Fastball is on a long list of bands that had meteoric success in the mid-90s, but unlike most, this Texas trio is still going strong with their seventh album “The Help Machine,” a collection of songs about handling the confusion of society while dealing with getting older.

The band’s creative nucleus is Miles Zuniga and Tony Scalzo and after twenty five years together they have finally begun to write songs as a band rather than from a pair of songwriters who happen to be in a band. Both show off a wry sense of humor and an a great ear for melodic power pop.

The band works closely with their producer, Steve Berlin of Los Lobos, to find new sounds and approaches to the music. Says Zuniga “We’re all grown-ups with kids now, so there's more of a sense of urgency now,”

The album was recorded in ten days and they say they didn’t even need the last three. It’s clear they are excited about the new album because of how effortless it was. Coming on the heels of their 2017 comeback album, “The Help Machine” proves Fastball still has a lot to say.
