This week, Pickin' on WHRV honors the late Audie Blaylock, who passed away on January 10. Blaylock was a veteran of the genre having played with many of the greats including Red Allen, Jimmy Martin, Lynn Morris, and Rhonda Vincent before forming and fronting his own band RedLine.” In 2011, Blaylock released the highly praised I’m Going Back to Old Kentucky: The Tribute to Bill Monroe which showcased his commitment to the traditional first-generation sound of the genre. He also released the Grammy-nominated A Tribute To Jimmy Martin: The King of Bluegrass, in 2004. Blaylock continued to work with many of the greats of Bluegrass music including Del McCoury, Michael Cleveland, Bobby Osborne, and JD Crowe. We’ll feature his music and some of the artists he worked with. Tune in for a remembrance of Audie Blaylock.
