Brandi Carliles’s sixth studio album "By The Way I Forgive You” is an exercise in using forgiveness as a source of strength and the past to prove her right.  She is in a strong place and ready to sing about it.

Her booming voice is right at home in the Americana backdrop provided by producers Shooter Jennings and Dave Cobb, but their secret weapon is the orchestration of the late Paul Buckmaster who worked with Elton John and Leonard Cohen. His cinematic touch is used sparingly but adds just the right texture.

With long-time collaborators Tim and Phil Hanseroth, Carlile sings of lessons learned about gender identity, addiction, empowerment and she sings of being a mother.

"By The Way I Forgive You" is a much more focused work than any of her previous albums, her vocal confidence reflects how she has taken control of her life and even if she can’t forget she can forgive.
