There’s a thin line between blues and soul and Marc Broussard straddles that line on his new album "S.O.S. 4: Blues For Your Soul.” It’s a charitable album of mostly covers by the powerhouse New Orleans singer, co-produced by Joe Bonamassa who plays on four tracks and has released it on his own label.

Broussard describes blues music as in his wheelhouse but to truly get the most out of this tribute album he has called in Bonamassa who is gaining a reputation for being a great producer as well as performer. This is the fourth in a series of fundraising albums and the proceeds from this one go to the “Keeping the Blues Alive Foundation”

With covers of blues classics by John Lee Hooker, Bobby Blue Bland and Little Milton mixed in with soul songs by Johnny Taylor, Bobby Womack and Johnny “Guitar” Watson, the album is a stunning showcase of Broussard’s passionate vocals.

The album features other special guests including JJ Grey, Roddie Romero, Eric Krasno and Calvin Turner joing Brousssard’s long-time collaborator Josh Smith, giving the feel of an esteemed musical tribe paying tribute to the music they love.
