Last spring, our two radio stations joined forces to bring together the best of Classical Open Mic and Writer’s Block in “Sonatas and Stories,” a live performance featuring local writers and classical musicians, with hosts Wayla Chambo (WHRO) and Gina Gambony (WHRV). This month we are delighted to share Sonatas and Stories on air!

The performers include members of the Virginia Symphony and the USAF Heritage of America Band, as well as Virginia Wesleyan University faculty and students. You’ll hear music by Piazzolla, Glazunov, Handel, and more, and works by local authors Vivian Teter, Jayla Cross, Laura Bortnick and Larry Edge.

You’ll have two chances to enjoy the broadcast of this one-of-a-kind program, recorded live at the Susan S. Goode Fine and Performing Arts Center at Virginia Wesleyan: Saturday, September 14 on WHRO FM, and Sunday, September 15 on WHRV FM, both at 11 a.m. Tune in for an hour of Sonatas and Stories!
