Feral Conservatives are a Virginia Beach based band led by a mandolin player who makes the instrument sound like a power chording eletric guitar. Her songs about overcoming obstacles and the energy of her band make “Better Lives” a musical diamond in the rough.

This the the third album from the band and the most ambitious yet. They’ve teamed with Jon Auer of The Posies and Big Star to add some of the power pop that he is known for and he ends up singing, playing and co-producing.

Rashie Rosenfarb’s unique vocals rise above the ever changing song styles and anxiously convey the meaning behind songs about not admitting defeat even when confronted with disppointments, hoping for redemption in the face of dark moments and of course about how much she misses her cat on tour.

The strong musicianship from Matt Francis on drums, Zachary Jones on guitar and bassist Dan Avant push the top notch songwriting to another level. “Better Lives” is the sound of a band pushing beyond their influences and establishing their own set of rules.
