Buddy and Julie Miller decided that for their 40th wedding anniversary they’d release their first album in ten years. It’s called "Breakdown on 20th Ave. South" and to add creedence to their years of longevity many of the songs were recorded in their bedroom, or studio B as Julie calls it.

While Buddy Miller is one of the most in-demand producers and session musicians in Nashville, his wife Julie has been battling health issues since their last album but has written and sings most of the songs on this new album. It’s a reminder of how much her light but insightful vocals and her songs about matters of the heart have been missing lately.

Looking for raw intensity, the couple recorded most of the songs as a duo, adding overdubs later. They offset each other’s talents perfectly with Julie supplying the stories about the complexity of life and Buddy, the mesmerizing guitar work.  But it’s when they sing harmony that suddenly the music is much greater than the sum of their two parts.

There are many husband and wife duos, especially in Americana music today but Buddy and Julie Miller stand above the rest as the ideal to strive for. “Breakdown on 20th Ave. South” has been a long time coming and proves to be well worth the wait.
