August 15 is National Relaxation Day, and while it might seem like your favorite public radio staff never take a vacation, there are some favorite spots for R and R that they love to hit. For Paul Shugrue and Doug Boynton, it’s the beaches of the Outer Banks, while Jazz Host Jae Sinnett loves the Big Apple of New York. Jeff Sander longs for Corfu, Greece, where he visited in his Air Force career. Jordan Christie loves hiking and rafting in West Virginia. Pickin’ Producer Harold Smith says, “Any place that has a great golf course—Bay Hill, Torrey Pines, Innisbrook,” and our Director of Programming and Audience Strategy Chuck Doud says, “Anywhere there’s woodland—a trail and my dog.” As for me, I never tire of seeing the sun set over Mallory Docks in Key West.

So to help you relax, WHRV is celebrating all weekend beginning Friday, August 12, with music and stories all about our favorite vacation spots. Songs about those places of relaxation can be heard on our locally produced music shows, and our hosts will share stories about their favorite places to just kick back.

In the words of the infamous Frankie Goes to Hollywood, “Relax…get to it.” WHRV is here to help.
