Sunday, August 6, 7 PM

Dust off your best cowboy boots and grab your rhinestone suit. WHRV’s Pickin Hosts Harold Smith and Barry Graham take us back to the early days of Country Music.

The foundation of Country Music was laid in the Texas and Oklahoma Ball Rooms, in the Bakersfield Honky-Tonk Bars, and ultimately at the Mother Church of Country Music, the Grand Ole Opry. Pioneering Artists like Bob Wills, George Jones, Buck Owens, Merle Haggard, Pearl and Carl Butler, and Porter Waggoner helped establish the genre of Country Music.

A program dedicated to the great singers, song writers, and song stylists, “When Country Music Was Country” airs Sunday, August 6 from 7-10pm.
