This week, the Acoustic Highway leads us north--about 90 miles, to Richmond. For years, it has had a thriving folk music scene that has produced countless legends. We’ll hear from artists Gerry Laverty, Pamela McCarthy, Steve Fisher, Robbin Thompson, and plenty of others. Robbin Thompson co-wrote the tune “Sweet Virginia Breeze” which became the second state song of Virginia. Gerry Laverty performed for a WHRO concert with Tidewater Friends of Acoustic Music after the resurgent interest in folk music due to the dramatic success of the movie O Brother, Where Art Thou. Tune in to hear great artists from the Richmond music scene. Sunday night at 9:00 on 89.5.
