Over the years, while on the road, Drive-By Truckers have had a lot of time to contemplate the past and it’s influence on the present. That’s the theme of their 14th album “Welcome 2 Club XIII” Their unique songwriting ability make’s their own story relatable to anyone who listens.

In explaining the album Patterson Hood says, “All our records are political to some extent, but after making three overtly political records in a row, we wanted to do something much more personal.”  Recorded in three days last year the songs were mostly cut in one or two takes reflecting their live energy that has always been their trademark.

With guest artists like Margo Price, Randall Bramblett, Mike Mills and Schaefer Llana, the southern gothic ethos that has guided them all these years is at the forefront of the album’s mostly subdued, but no less powerful songs.

"Welcome 2Club XIII” examines painful losses, faith in God, and the fear of how missteps of the past are now baggageto be dealt with today. Drive-By Truckers, through their sense of drama and sense of humor point out the absurdity of hoping that it will all make sense one day.
