This week the Acoustic Highway leads us to the mountain state of West Virginia. The state’s gorgeous natural beauty and rich heritage provides great inspiration for musicians. We’ll hear from artists Tim and Mollie O ‘Brien who hail from Wheeling, country star Kathy Mattea who is from South Charleston, and state legend Hazel Dickens who was featured in the movie Songcatcher. We’ll also hear from another state legend, Mike Morningstar. He played all over the region for 50 years, opening for Doc Watson, Vince Gill and Dan Seals. In 2018, a documentary titled Mike Morningstar: Here’s to the Working Man was released. Tune in to hear both legendary and current performers from West Virginia on this week’s Acoustic Highway, Sunday night at 9 on WHRV.
