On this week’s Pickin', we feature the beloved duo of Don Reno and Red Smiley. They formed in the mind 1950s after working on The Richmond based Old Dominion Barn Dance. They issued numerous recordings before breaking up in the 1960s. They briefly reunited in 1971 and released a now legendary album entitled Together Again. Sadly, it would be their final recordings as Red Smiley died a short time after the release. Reno and Smiley were inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Honor in 1992. We’ll also have music from Jimmy Martin, Carl Story and his Ramblin Mountaineers, and plenty of others. It’s classic and it’s on Pickin'. Join us Sunday night at 7.
