On this week’s Pickin', we feature the music of the Lonesome Pine Fiddlers. The group was largely formed around Ezra Cline and his cousins Ireland, Charlie and Ray Cline. Other notable artists of the genre like Bobby Osborne, Paul Williams and Larry Williams also had stints in the band. Hailing from Mercer County West Virginia, they found success on the legendary Starday record label and later recorded on RCA Victor throughout the 1950s and early 1960s. In 2009, The Lonesome Pine Fiddlers were inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame. We’ll also hear music from Larry Sparks, High Fidelity, and some of the acts performing at this year’s Merlefest. Join us Sunday night at 7 on WHRV.
