On this week’s Acoustic Highway, we feature the music of Janis Ian. She first emerged when her song “Society’s Child” charted in 1966 when Ian was just a teenager. The lyrics concern an interracial romance which was hugely controversial for the era. She had a big pop hit in 1975 with “At Seventeen” and was the first musical guest on Saturday Night Live when the show debuted that year.
