A new voice has joined the WHRV airwaves. Doug Boynton is the afternoon local host for All Things Considered. A Michigan native, he considers himself a Virginian after spending more than half his life in the Commonwealth.

Doug previously served as news director at WNIS in Norfolk from its launch in 1979 until 1988. He also worked in content sales to affiliated radio, television and digital outlets for Metro Networks in the United States and the US Broadcasting Board of Governors overseas including the Voice of America.

He comes to WHRV after working with the Hampton Roads Voice, a reading service for the visually impaired that is a part of WHRO Public Media.

Doug studied journalism and broadcast communications at Eastern Michigan State and marketing and management at Old Dominion University. He enjoys listening to jazz vocalists and writes a blog reviewing female artists. Doug also is an avid baseball and hockey fan where he regularly roots for two Detroit teams—the Tigers and Red Wings.

Doug said, “Writing news has always been my first love and I am happy to be doing it again, especially here at WHRV.”
