WHRV is pleased to welcome a new host and producer to the family! Gina Gambony will host and produce Morning Edition on WHRV starting Friday, February 1. Gina hails from Wilmington, North Carolina, where she worked as an arts and culture reporter/producer, classical music host, backup host for Morning Edition and All Things Considered, and arts liaison for WHQR Public Media. Prior to her work in radio, Gina taught secondary English and drama for several years and fell in love with sound through creative theatrical projects. She earned her B.A. in Philosophy from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and attended the Philosophy Institute at Katholieke Universiteit te Leuven (Belgium).
“We are so excited to welcome Gina! Her impressive career in academia, the arts, education, community engagement and rich history in public media are certain to raise WHRV’s Morning Edition to even greater heights,” said Chuck Doud, WHRO Public Media’s Director of Radio Programming and Audience Strategy.
Gina has used her voice for commercials, cartoons, storytelling, puppetry and theatrical productions since childhood. She's delighted to use the skills and experience acquired through her work in public service and the arts to be a part of the WHRV team.
