On this week’s Pickin' on WHRV, we celebrate an early birthday for the legendary Charlie Moore. Born February 13, 1935 in Piedmont, South Carolina, he began playing in regional bands and appeared on local TV and radio while in high school. He began to emerge as a major act in the early '60s after teaming with Bill Napier, a former sideman to Ralph Stanley. Charlie Moore passed away in 1979 leaving behind a legacy as a second generation Bluegrass star who had one of the greatest voices in the genre. We’ll also feature sets from Lester Flatt and The Nashville Grass and also, Del McCoury. Tune in for classic Bluegrass Music on Pickin', Sunday night at 7:00 on 89.5 FM.

You can also stream the program online.
