With snow in the forecast for Hampton Roads this weekend, WHRO FM’s Dwight Davis considers the question of which birds, if any, are considered “snow birds.”

A few contenders under consideration: the Snowy Owl and the Snow Goose — but are these truly snow birds?

Davis points out there is only one bird that typcially makes an appearance in our region during the winter, and its slate color makes it an obvious stand-out among snow.
