On January 14, the Feldman Chamber Music Society shared a fun, beautiful evening of classical chamber music in the theater at the Chrysler Museum of Art. The group Trio Karénine performed three piano trios by Debussy, Schumann, and Ravel. Trio Karénine is young, talented, and committed to the musical greats they play. Although the trio was slightly restrained during the opening number by Debussy, they were at their most confident, impassioned, and fiery by the time they reached the final piece by Ravel.

WHRO’s very own Dwight Davis gave a pre-concert lecture, which was a fantastic way to provide a deeper musical experience for audience members of all backgrounds, from those brand new to classical music, to those who have been attending the Feldman’s concerts for years. The most stunning performance and piece on the program was Ravel’s Trio in A Minor. The group was stirring and fantastical, crafting their most assured performance of the evening.

Overall, it was a strong performance of chamber music that is easy to love and enjoy. I highly recommend checking out the Feldman Chamber Music Society’s offerings if you’re an avid chamber music fan, or have been itching to give classical music a try. The next group performing is the Telegraph Quartet. They’ll be playing music by Mozart, Weinberg, and Dvorak at the theater at the Chrysler Museum on March 11.
