By coincidence, November has evolved into an American month. Dates in November were chosen for Election Day, for the observance of Veterans Day, and for that most American holiday, Thanksgiving. Then there are the birthdays of John Philip Sousa on the 6th and Virgil Thomson on the 25th.

Each of these days calls forth the red, white and blue, and WHRO-FM will match those patriotic colors with music. We’ll have compositions by American composers, works about pilgrims, soldiers, and Thanksgiving, and, for election day, some truly awful campaign songs from the past. If you think political campaigns hit their nadir recently, these songs might just change your mind.

Tune in and enjoy the musical Americana this month on WHRO-FM, WHRJ, and WHRF, or listen online.
