On January 1, WHRO-FM will broadcast the Vienna Philharmonic’s popular New Year’s Concert from the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna.

The program will include waltzes, polkas, and other celebratory music by Carl Michael Ziehrer, Josef Strauss, Josef Hellmesberger, Jr., Johann Strauss Jr., and Eduard Strauss.

The Vienna Philharmonic’s annual concerts are broadcast in over 90 countries and viewed on television by 40 million people around the world. This year, Conductor Christian Thielemann, Principal Conductor of the Dresden Staatskapelle and Artistic Director of the Salzburg Easter Festival, will lead the concert for the first time.

Tune in on January 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for entrancing tunes to kick off the New Year on WHRO-FM.
