This week, Pickin' on WHRV remembers the incredible Sonny Osborne who sadly passed away October 24 at age 84. One half of the famed Osborne Brothers, Sonny was a legendary banjo player that helped propel the duo to international acclaim. He worked with many of the greats of the genre including Bill Monroe, Red Allen and Jimmy Martin though he will mostly be remembered for his work with his brother Bobby. Their song “Rocky Top” was adopted as a state song for Tennessee. Classic recordings from the Osborne Brothers, on Pickin', Sunday night at 7 on WHRV.
