Monday’s conversation with Norfolk Mayor Paul Fraim was a powerful look behind the scenes of the viral internet rumor mill. Our show has put a stake in the ground on the issue of civility, so we knew we wanted to talk with Mayor Fraim about the impact of this false allegation on him, his family and his practice.
 
Producer Morgan Chase made it happen and we are honored that Mayor Fraim chose our show as the platform to tell his story.  Because we think it’s a powerful cautionary tale, we’ve shared the conversation with our media colleagues.
 
In a civil society in the internet age, I hope we will all take a pledge not to share speculation, to wait for facts and to assess the legitimacy of our sources.  Each of us has great power to affect the lives of others and in the internet age, we must be very careful about how we use that power.
