A few years ago veteran bluesman Tommy Castro downsized his band to the foursome he calls the Painkillers and it's their magnetic chemistry that makes his latest “Method to My Madness” one the best of his now twenty year career.

It helps that this is the first album Tommy Castro is producing himself, letting him focus on the vision he has for not only the blues, but funk, soul, rock…capturing his humor, riffs and powerful moments for the first time on a studio recording.

The guitar work of Castro is superb with some great keyboard &  rhythm section interplay. The absence of the once familiar horn section creates a more intense gritty sound.

Castro gets back to his basic ingredients, blues and soul, by connecting with his band and going for the raw energy of playing live. He’s says he’s not about being perfect, he’s about being real. "Method to My Madness" is real good.
