On this week's Pickin' on WHRV, we fondly remember Bluegrass great Bill Emerson who passed away August 21. He was involved with Bluegrass music for 60 years as a founding member of the legendary Country Gentlemen, and he also did work with Jimmy Martin, Cliff Waldron, and Buzz Busby. In 1973, he joined the US Navy as a non-commissioned officer to form Country Current, the first military band dedicated to country and Bluegrass music. He was inducted into both the Virginia Country Music and Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame. Pickin' Producer Harold Smith will recall his many conversations with Bill Emerson and feature his musical genius. Tune in for this special remembrance. Sunday night at 7 on Pickin' on WHRV.
