On this week’s Acoustic Highway we remember singer-songwriter Martin Swinger. He was a part of the duo Mandala that performed in the region back in the 70s. He later was a part of the Just Plain Folk Group as well as a solo performer. He was a regular at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival and was also honored with songwriting awards at the South Florida Folk Festival and Solarfest. His legacy will be felt with the countless school students that he taught songwriting. Though he had left Tidewater to live in Asbury Park, New Jersey, he had many friends and fans in the region who well remember his memorable concerts. He paid two previous visits to the Acoustic Highway and delighted the audience with his wit, warmth, and lovely voice. We’ll hear from some of his former bandmates as well as Brenda Barkley who managed him. Join us for this special tribute to a dear friend. Sunday night at 9 on WHRV.
