Sondra Woodward has been a beloved voice for years here at WHRV. She joined the team in October 2004 as host of Morning Edition where she managed the morning shift of real time traffic reports and local journalism.

"Sondra is every listener's friend that offered a warm presence on the air that had been missing for years." Our Chief Content Officer, Heather Mazzoni, talks about her fondness of Sondra who has "never missed a shift, through snow, flooding, and hurricanes. She always made it to work with the help of waders, a good flashlight and cross country skies!"

In addition to her daily duties she created Reel Sound, a weekly music program featuring film scores, the popular podcast Mind Over Manners with co-host Lisa Godley and expertly hosted HearSay with Cathy Lewis on occasion. Sondra has also been an amazing fundraiser and advocate of WHRV and WHRO.  She’s an award-winning host and producer, winning the Virginia Association of Broadcasters annual award for Best Morning Show and Best Local Newscast many years in a row, as well as an award for her work on StoryCorps. She was also recognized by the Virginia Department of Public Transportation for her traffic reporting on WHRV.

Sondra was presented with a great new opportunity, and we could not be more proud of her.
