On this week’s Pickin' on WHRV,, we pay tribute to West Coast Bluegrass. During the Great “Folk Scare” of the early 1960s, Bluegrass music was thriving, especially on the West Coast. Bands like The Dillards and The Kentucky Colonels dominated the music scene. Pickin' Producer Harold Smith was a teen living in Los Angeles at the time and saw many of the bands, leading him to a lifetime of involvement in Bluegrass music first as a member of East Virginia and today, as the host of Pickin'. Relive some of Harold’s memories of a special time in Americana music with West Coast Bluegrass, Sunday night at 7:00 on WHRV.
