On Wednesday, September 5, Raymond Jones begins a weekly sampling of the best in classics Virginia has to offer. On the first program, JoAnn Falletta and the Virginia Symphony are in concert with Carl Orff’s ‘Carmina Burana.’ Renowned composer Stephen Melillo is showcased, and we’ll have some music from Colonial Williamsburg as well. Each week, the music will range from the symphony and opera broadcasts to music from Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia, to Langley’s Heritage of America Band to composers like Adolphus Hailstork and Aldo Forte to music from the Myers House in Norfolk, Radford University, the Adagio Trio and JoAnn Falletta’s latest recordings. Virginia is a state rich in classical music offerings, and we’ll explore those each week on this new program: electric, eclectic and Virginia-centric! Join us every Wednesday evening at 9 p.m. starting September 5 to hear A Local Touch.
