When the ball dropped at midnight on January 1, some were missing that annual sense of renewal and possibility. Nevertheless, that desire to find meaning in our daily lives persists, despite the ambiguities we face in the year ahead.

Norfolk artist Andy Harris has an exhibit called “Bikes, Brands, Words, and Wheels" opening on January 9 at the Baron and Ellin Gordon Art Galleries at Old Dominion University. The exhibit will run through February 21, and include art inspired by abandoned bikes, in addition to album covers he designed through a collaboration with the record label Platoon.

Rebecca Weinstein spoke with Andy about where he gets his inspiration and how he fosters his creativity.
