Since their debut in 2009, Dawes has been one of rock’s busiest bands and on their seventh album “Good Luck With Whatever” they come to grips with being thirtysomething and dealing with growing up.

Taylor Goldsmith, the band’s lead singer and main song-writer uses his earnestness and emotionalism as an instrument melding with keyboardist Lee Pardini to form a dramatic interplay while drummer Griffin Goldsmith and bassist Wylie Gelber play with a sense of abandon not heard on their previous albums.

Goldsmith descrbes himself as an observational songwriter, one who comments without judgement, a historian of the human condition. He draws influences from many other songwriters without sounding like any of them.

“Good Luck With Whatever” is produced by Dave Cobb who does little to mess with the band’s already solid cohesiveness. It’s an album of uncompromising simplicity, four guys relating to the world and finding strength in their numbers
