On September 21, 1990, 90.3 signed on as a full-time classical music station, taking the WHRO FM call letters. NPR programming remained on 89.5 under new call letters, WHRV.

This week we are celebrating 30 years of these two public radio stations serving Eastern Virginia. On the air, you’ll hear poignant memories from our announcers and have the opportunity to support WHRO Public Media to ensure our next 30 years are just as strong. Listen at 89.5, 90.3 or stream us live online.

On our anniversary web page , you'll find archival photos and audio recordings from the day we launched as well as some of the early days of the station. Join us for this fun celebration!
