This week, Pickin on WHRV features “crossovers”—songs that we’ll hear from bluegrass artists performing country music standards. It’s not a new phenomenon. When the Father of Bluegrass Music, Bill Monroe, auditioned for the Grand Ole Opry in the late 30s, he performed a classic country song–Jimmy Rodgers’ "Mule Skinner Blues." We’ll hear from Jimmy Martin, The Country Gentlemen, and plenty of others, all performing crossover tunes from Country to the Bluegrass genre. Sunday night at 7 on 89.5 FM, or listen online
