Sarah Jarosz has probably heard the old saying you can never go home again but on her new album “World on the Ground” she sings all about her small Texas hometown with songs that play out like a collection of short stories.

Jarosz is a virtuoso mandolin and banjo player and she’s won three grammy awards for her last two releases, her collaboration with the folk trio I’m With Her and her last solo album.  She’s working with John Leventhal as her producer for the first time. He’s known for his work with Shawn Colvin and Rosanne Cash. He makes tiny adjustments to her style bringing out her self-confidence and allowing her creativity to flow.

The album gets its title from a song sung from the perspective of a bird observing the world below. A world that includes sympathetic characters, wandering spirits, and small-town daydreamers of her hometown of Wimberley, Texas population 2626.

"World on the Ground" is the work of one of the best roots artists in music today examining her own roots and she finds plenty to write about. After living in New York City for the last few years she finds evidence that her small-town upbringing had a big impact on her.
