Students, lawmakers and free-speech activists question if updated university policies that regulate student demonstrations violate First Amendment rights. A policy director with the 25-year-old Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression says an “unprecedented number of new restrictions” have been introduced at U.S. universities this academic year, which changes how students express themselves on campus.
